PrepGenie Mock Exams Review
PrepGenie is another GAMSAT preparation company, similar to Gold Standard, they sell you courses and mock exams. This review will be about their mock exams, i've only seen them, and ill be comparing them to ACER's material but also Des O'Neill and Gold Standard's questions since they similarly priced.
Straight away you'll notice the formatting is not like ACER's, atleast Gold's attempts to look similar. This is not much of an issue in S3, in S1 questions it is common for the lines of the extract to be numbered and referred to in the questions, this is not present in PrepGenie's mock exams. S1 ACER questions, test your reasoning skills and the your ability to interpretation and understanding of ideas in social and cultural contexts. PrepGenie's section 1 questions felt more like general comprehension questions you'd find in English class. Even their questions including figures and cartoons, weren't about reasoning but describing what is seen.
Not much to talk about here, you get 5 quotes to develop a piece upon. Depending on the stimuli, it can be easy to determine the theme and others can be really hard. What people also don't notice in the GAMSAT, is the first task always deals with socio-cultural issues while the second deals with more personal and social issues. Unfortunately this is not completely the case in PrepGenie S2 questions, the themes seem to be random.
It's section 3 questions are relatively good buts its got a flaw, if you've seen this video you can almost always narrow down a multiple choice question:
Using fundamentals from this video you can narrow down all of Prepgenie's multiple choice options down to two and from there is is just about selecting the right answer. I've tried this in ACER's GAMSAT and it is not possible making PrepGenie's mock exams inaccurate to ACER's.
If you're looking for practice questions this might be an ok option but for the price, they really aren't providing anything good. You'd be better off buying Gold Standards or Des O'Niells practice questions
